Europetrack, the software business from the Hague, stands for clear ride registration. Europetrack’s ride registration system helps customers save money on fuel by offering insights into driving behavior, hours, addition, and administration. In addition to kilometer administration, Europetrack also offers reports and the option to follow vehicles in real-time with track-and-trace. As one of the first providers in the Netherlands, Europetrack can even provide customers with a trip registration system certification. This certificate confirms the ride administration is binding for tax authorities. Privacy aspects of data storage are taken into account.
Before their move to The Datacenter Group Europetrack made use of Virtual Private Servers (VPS) from different hosting providers. Europetrack’s environment kept growing, which resulted in high costs with the hosting providers. Because of the increasing costs Europetrack began looking for a new, cheaper solution.
One of the possible solutions was the cloud. Think of platforms like Microsoft Azure. As it turns out it was quite tricky to acquire a good performance at an affordable price with the different cloud providers. Europetrack’s environment seemed too large for this solution. In addition, the cloud did not seem to comply with the requirements of the software business in the area of privacy.
Privacy was an important requirement in the search for a new solution. Because trip registration details are privacy sensitive, it’s important that these files are stored within the Netherlands. Europetrack was looking for an arrangement in which they have insight into where their files would be located, with the added requirement that this needed to be within the Netherlands.
The Datacenter Group
Europetrack eventually decided to manage all systems themselves, and move their IT environment into The Datacenter Group. Privacy, availability and costs played a big part in this decision. It started with a search for datacenters outside Amsterdam. Jasper Algra, CEO at Europetrack, says: “Preceding this project we rented some temporary servers with a business in Amsterdam. It soon became clear that availability was a problem for us and because we were going to be managing all systems ourselves we decided to look for datacenters outside of Amsterdam.” This is when The Datacenter Group Delft appeared on their radar.
Preceding this project we rented some temporary servers with a business in Amsterdam. It soon became clear that availability was a problem for us and because we were going to be managing all systems ourselves we decided to look for datacenters outside of Amsterdam. Unlike other datacenters, the datacenter of The Datacenter Group in Delft looked very professional. From there we went into further discussion.
Migrating to a datacenter was completely new for Europetrack. It was therefore necessary for them to receive support for the migration trajectory. “The Datacenter Group shared a lot of knowledge to support us in this migration, and helped out where possible,” says Algra. Commitment and passion are some of the core values of The Datacenter Group. Jasper’s statements match this completely. In addition to privacy, availability, and costs, it was professionalism that showed itself in commitment and passion that played a big part in Europetrack’s decision to migrate to The Datacenter Group.
Lower costs and flexibility
As opposed to other solutions, Europetrack is saving a lot on costs by managing the systems themselves and housing them with The Datacenter Group. In addition to the fact that costs are reduced, Europetrack also gains several advantages from the flexibility offered by The Datacenter Group.
A good example is the fact that The Datacenter Group is a carrier neutral datacenter. This puts Europetrack in a position to furnish their systems entirely according to their own demands. A positive result is that Europetrack can focus completely on their core business. With an eye to the future it is also handy to note that the datacenter offers room for growth. Siemon van den Berg, CEO of The Datacenter Group, says: “By taking a flexible approach, but remaining within the strict rules of our datacenters, we were able to assist Europetrack in certain areas. As a result Europetrack can now focus fully on their core business.”
Being flexible with regards to our clients is a focal point within our organization. By taking a flexible approach, but remaining within the strict rules of our datacenters, we were able to assist Europetrack in certain areas. As a result Europetrack can now focus fully on their core business.
By managing all of their IT systems themselves, and the fact that The Datacenter Group is 100% Dutch owned with all datacenters on Dutch soil, means that Europetrack can offer their customers a complete guarantee when it comes to privacy.
